Sharing The Good News
Greek word "euangelion" - meaning "GOOD NEWS"
Getting Started
If the Holy Spirit has placed on your heart the conviction of sharing the Gospel with someone, have no fear! The process is as simple as sharing a story. Just tell them about when you first heard about Jesus. How was the Gospel shared with you and by whom? How did learning about Jesus change your life? THIS is your TESTIMONY!
Now, reassure who you're sharing with that you're 100% sure about going to Heaven, although there was a time when you had your doubts.
Ask:
Now, reassure who you're sharing with that you're 100% sure about going to Heaven, although there was a time when you had your doubts.
Ask:
"How about you?"
"If I could show you what the Bible says - not religion or man - would you be willing to consider it?"
The Gospel
- Romans 1:6 - "The Gospel is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believes."
- Power of God, not religion or man - only the Gospel saves! Man - a sinner - can't save a sinner or himself.
- 1 Corinthians 15:1-4 - The Gospel is defined as the "Death, Burial, & Resurrection of Jesus Christ."
The Gospel means "Good News," but you can't understand the Good News unless you know what the bad news is!
The Bad News
- Romans 3:10 "As it is written, there is none righteous, no, not one." - this means NO ONE.
- Romans 3:23 "For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God." - even a lie separates us from God.
- Romans 6:23 "For the wages of sin is death..." - wages is what we earn; for our sins, we've earned death.
- Revelation 20:14-15 "... This is the second death. (15) And whosoever was not written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire." - We have two deaths: physical and spiritual. Hell is the second death!
The Good News
- Romans 5:8 "But God commended His love towards us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." - God is who He says He is! We must all call upon the name of Jesus - and Jesus alone - to be saved.
- Romans 10:13 "For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved." - Call simply means to humbly ask. It didn't say, "If we go to church, keep the commandments, and be good or get baptized." Did it?
- Ephesians 2:8-9 "For by grace are ye saved through faith, and not of yourselves: but the gift of God: (9) Not works, let any man should boast." - God is not a liar! Titus 1:2 "... God that cannot lie." - He will save those who admit they need a Savior.
Believing in Jesus and trusting in Jesus are two different things. The Bible says that even Satan believes in Jesus!
If you called upon the name of Jesus to save you, would He? Would you be depending on what you did or what Jesus did for you (Jesus' death on the cross and resurrection)?
Let's Recap
You need to believe, and agree with, these four truths to be saved:
- Do you agree that you're a sinner?
- (Key Point) Do you agree that your sins are bad enough to send you to hell?
- Do you believe that Jesus is God, died for your sins, was buried, and rose again?
- Do you believe/trust that if you asked Jesus to save you, He would?
Sinner's Prayer
If I led you in a simple prayer, would you be willing to let Jesus save you?
